Mission Statement: to create educational opportunities in which students are productive, caring, informed and involved citizens, and lifelong learners.
The Sanford School Department serves nearly 3600 students from kindergarten through high school and provide adult education programs for 1500 additional citizens. The Sanford School Department is governed by a five member elected school committee and is managed by an administrative team comprised of
the Superintendent of Schools, Business Administrator, Director of Educational Operations, Curriculum Director, Director of Special Education, School Principals, and the Director of the Sanford Regional Vocational Center. The K-6 educational program is housed in five schools. Students in grades 7 and 8 attend Sanford Junior High School. The secondary program of studies is located at Sanford High School and the adjacent Sanford Regional Vocational
Center. In addition, an alternative school is available to students in grades 9-12. This program along with the Adult Education Administration Office and classrooms is located at Lincoln School in Springvale. The school system employs over 300 teachers. Additional professional staff includes guidance counselors, computer specialists, librarians, social workers and nurses.
